My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We have now completed the first month of Holy Trinity’s 150th Anniversary Year!

These are exciting times: much is planned, much is occurring.

When you arrive on Sunday, notice the many parts of our building that have been painted.  Our hallways and community room look fresh and beautiful!

On Sunday, February 11, the Reverend Mark Hanson, the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America from 2001-2013, will be our guest preacher.  This is a big deal!  While our presiding bishop, he was also the president of the Lutheran World Federation.  You might say, during that time, he was the closest thing we Lutherans had to a pope!

I ask you, please be present at Sunday morning Mass and Bach Vespers on February 11.  bring friends, neighbors, and family.  We hope to have a crowded church!  Bishop Hanson will be preaching two different sermons so you are in for two special treats!

Also, from me to you,  if you haven’t noticed as yet, I love statistics, especially good ones.  You may be interested to know that January worship attendance was up by 20% over the past six years.  I am thrilled, as I know you are too, to see so many people at Mass on Sunday.

So, see you on Sunday.  As is said, “God’s people are at God’s altar on Sunday.”

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Wilbert “Wilk” Miller

The Social Statements
of the Evangelical Lutheran Church
Sunday, February 4
12:25 – 1:25 p.m. (immediately following Mass)

What are the Social Statements of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)? How do they inform our life together and our witness to the world?   On February 4, we will give particular attention to the “Draft Social Statement on Women and Justice,” examining how such a document is created by the ELCA and who determines what it says.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 11, the Transfiguration of Our Lord, as we are honored to welcome Bishop Mark Hanson who will preach at 11 a.m. (Mass) and  5 p.m. (Vespers).  He was the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) from 2001-2013; he also served as the president of the Lutheran World Federation, a position he held concurrently while presiding bishop.  Prior to becoming the presiding  bishop, he served as bishop of the Saint Paul Area Synod. We urge you to invite friends, neighbors, and family for this special day.  Bishop Hanson is the first of the preachers in our 150th anniversary Distinguished Preachers series.
