Good News from Pastor Miller
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Summertime and the living is easy. Said another way, come to church this Sunday and hear Jesus say to you, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Someone recently told me–actually a number of you have told me, “Everyone leaves the Upper West Side in the summer.” Well, I am an inveterate counter, and on Sunday afternoon, a week ago, I walked through Central Park’s Sheep Meadow and it was packed. Packed! Apparently, not everyone leaves the city.
If you happen to be in town, I encourage you to come to church. Come to be refreshed with the gifts of bread and wine. Come to hear that God loves you. Come to be with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Oh yes, and if you can’t make it on Sunday, I have an offer you can’t resist: come to worship on Wednesday evening, our fastest growing service at Holy Trinity.
Summertime and the living is easy. Do come to church!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Wilbert “Wilk” Miller
Summer Reading: Brothers Karamazov
Sunday, July 23
12:30 p.m. (Miller’s apartment)
A group will be reading Fydor Dostoevsky’s Brothers Karamazov during the summer. The first meeting will be Sunday, July 23, following Mass in the Miller’s apartment. Try to read at least the first 120 pages by then. We will discuss plans for future meetings at this gathering. (If you are looking to purchase the book, the translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky has been suggested as a good one.)
