Second Sunday in Lent – February 21, 2016
Mass at 11:00 a.m. Readings: Genesis 15:1-12, 17-18; Psalm 42:1-7,11-15; Philippians 3:17-4:1; Luke 13:32-35. Pastor George Detweiler preaches and presides.
This Sunday’s theme is the challenge of the coming Kingdom of God and the reaction to it. God promises Abram, an old childless nomad, descendants and a permanent place in which to live. Paul warns the Philippians of the need to shed old ways and values and be open to the new thing God is doing in Christ. Jesus foreshadows his fate in Jerusalem, pointing to the city’s habit of rejecting those who challenge it.
Are we ready for the jolt to our assumptions of the arrival of God’s kingdom in Christ? Do we act as if our citizenship is in heaven, instead of in this world alone? Do we, like Abram, trust God’s promises
Lenten Meditation II is Sunday at 5:00PM

We ask that you please respond to this survey within the next few days. The survey should take 3-5 minutes to complete, and responses are anonymous. Please click here to complete the survey.
