Upcoming Events at Holy Trinity
Thoughts from Pastor Miller
Dear Members and Friends of Holy Trinity,
I am still basking in Easter wonder!
What a glorious Holy Week and Easter we had. I would like to thank all who attended worship during these days: your presence heightened the mystery and glory of the celebration of Christ’s death and resurrection. When God’s people gather at worship, there is such delight.
This Sunday, April 23, Amelia Rose von Bargen, the daughter of Richard and Suela von Bargen, will be baptized. Baptism is a special dimension of the Easter celebration as we watch a new sister become a child of God and as we all reaffirm our baptisms.
Just an additional note…In some liturgical circles, this coming Sunday, the Second Sunday of Easter, is called “Low Sunday.” The lilies are drooping just a bit, the brass and timpani are packed away and gone, the overflow church is somewhat a memory. But…might this be the best of all Easter days as the faithful come together again to celebrate in a different and yet just as profound manner that Christ is risen? I urge you to make this Sunday, not “Low Sunday,” but the day that Thomas beholds the Risen Lord, the day Amelia Rose von Bargen is baptized, and the day we all rejoice that Jesus Christ is risen!
I would like to say a word of thanks to all our staff members for everything they did to make Easter at Holy Trinity a wondrous affair. Preparation for Easter is like a roller-coaster ride: we hold on for dear life and, as I mentioned at Easter Vespers, “we pull out the stops and let ‘er rip!” Every staff member worked hard and faithfully to make Easter 2017 a celebration to remember and I thank them. It was exhilarating.
Thank you, as well, to the many volunteers who helped decorate, serve at the altar, welcome visitors, usher, sing, count money, and so much more. A special thanks to Kim and Frank Suttell for welcoming us into their home for a delicious Easter luncheon and to Tim Cage and Eric Nelson for helping host this special event.
Finally, I hope you are able to attend the 5th Sunday of the Month Pot Luck Luncheon next Sunday, April 30. Bring your favorite dish to be shared by others. We will take a bit of time to talk about the creation of small interest groups at Holy Trinity. Would you like a book group, a young adult group, a retirees group? Do you have another idea? Join us for fun, fellowship, and dreaming on April 30, immediately following Mass.
May these days of Easter be blessed ones for you.
Alleluia! Christ Is Risen!
