This Week at Holy Trinity

This Week at Holy Trinity

Fifth Sunday after Pentecost – June 19, 2016
Mass at 11:00. Readings: Isaiah 65:1-9; Psalm 22; Galatians 3:23-29; Luke 8:26-39. Pastor Wayne Dreyman preaches and presides. Ava Thoms will be baptized.

This Sunday’s texts paint startling pictures of the horrific – the demonic – nature of sin. The church’s repeated celebrations of the Holy Eucharist counters that tragic reality in a continued showing forth of Jesus “until he comes.” It is a dramatic declaration of “how much God has done for you.”

Please keep in your prayers:  Ellen Benton, Cory Bricco, Charlotte Cage, Peg Faulkner, Dolores Fernandez, Maria Jacobson, Lawrence Lever, Susan Sterne McCann, Marie Mutz, Jytte Palumbo, Robert Radsch, Mike Rodriguez, Thorvald Slater, and Benjamin Weiner.

Music for Sunday
Prelude: ‘The Peace May Be Exchanged’ from Rubrics – Dan Locklair
Offertory: Erbarm dich mein, o Herre Gott, BWV 721 – J. S. Bach
Postlude:Toccata Brevis – Daniel Gawthrop

#843   Praise the One Who Breaks the Darkness

June is Pride month in the LGBT community.
New York City’s Pride events will take place throughout the weekend of June 24-26. In honor of this weekend, Holy Trinity is proud to open our doors on Saturday from 12pm to 5pm to offer a quiet place for contemplation and prayer during the weekend’s festivities. Please feel free to stop by. We will have an evening prayer service to honor those lost in and to pray for reconciliation and healing at 5 PM at the conclusion of Open Doors. Please join us to honor the those who were lost in Orlando and in other tragedies.

We will continue to dedicate our regular 6:30pm Wednesday Evening services through the end of June to the victims of the Orlando massacre.

Ideas for Welcoming Pastor Miller and Dagmar
July 1 and the arrival of Pastor Miller and his wife Dagmar can’t get here soon enough!  As we eagerly await their arrival, let’s think of our best ideas for how to show them a warm welcome through the various stages of a transition. Enter suggestions in the spaces by following this link:

Also note, we understand Dagmar would love to hear about “favorite places” of “all types” in any of the boroughs. She wants to really get a “lay of the land” (e.g., where is your favorite fish store; favorite museum; favorite place to relax?”). The last question provides space where you can list the name and address of the location and we will locate it on a map that will be provided to Dagmar and Pastor Miller upon their arrival in New York.

As a service to both our newest and longtime members AND in order to welcome Pastor Miller and Dagmar to our congregation, we are excited to create a new pictorial directory.  We are working with Lifetouch Photography who will handle all aspects of the project, from shooting the photography to printing the directories. All sittings will be held at Holy Trinity from July 6-10. Please click here to sign up for a photo portrait session. A sign up sheet will also be available at church after Sunday morning services during coffee hour.

All individuals and families who sit for a portrait will receive a FREE 8″x10″ photo and a printed directory with no pressure to purchase anything.  You will have the opportunity to select from digital proofs on the day of your photo session and purchase additional portraits, if desired.
To make this directory a big success (and an invaluable resource to all of us), we need ALL of you to participate. Please make every effort to sign up for (and attend!) a session from July 6-10, however, if you are not able to attend one of these dates, please contact the office and we will look into setting a makeup date in the future. Thank you in advance for your participation!
