the installation of a pastor
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity celebrated the installation of The Reverend Timothy Weisman in a series of events on September 18 and 19, 2021. Installation is the rite in which an ordained person is publicly placed into their role as the pastor serving a specific congregation. Pastor Weisman is now the 15th installed pastor in Holy Trinity's 153-year history.
On Saturday evening, members and friends of Holy Trinity gathered in the Community Room for a potluck celebration and trivia night, with categories ranging from "New York City" to "Things with the initials TW."
The principal gathering was a Festival Eucharist with Installation on Sunday 19 at 5:00 p.m. The Reverend John Flack, Dean of the Manhattan Conference, led the installation, with The Reverend Stephanie Kershner, Pastor of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Manchester CT preaching and the Reverend Paul Egensteiner, Bishop of the Metropolitan New York Synod renewing Pastor Weisman's ordination vows on the tenth anniversary of his ordination.
The Festival Eucharist was attended by many of Pastor Weisman's clergy colleagues and featured music for organ, choir, and brass, including a new commission for the occasion by New York composer Buck McDaniel. A reception was held afterwards on our stoop on Central Park West. The video and several photographs appear below.
