getting married at Holy Trinity

If you can imagine stepping out of your hotel on Central Park South, and taking a 5-minute horse and carriage ride through Central Park, only to arrive at the front steps of our sanctuary; if you can imagine celebrating your marriage surrounded by stained glass, mosaics, followed by a cocktail hour on our front stoop on Central Park West; if you can imagine wedding photos along the Mall, Literary Walk, and Bethesda Terrace in Central Park, then a short walk to your reception at Tavern on the Green or Robert... we can provide that, and much more, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Central Park West.

• Neo-gothic sanctuary built in 1904 and listed in the Central Park West Historic District

• Beautiful mosaics, stained glass, a piano, and a expertly-crafted pipe organ

• On Central Park West, easy walk to Central Park, Tavern on the Green, Bethesda Terrace, and Lincoln Center

• Easy walk from the 59th/Columbus Circle station, the Plaza Hotel, the and Robert

• Seating in the sanctuary for as many as 350 guests (maybe more!)

• Access to our front stoop on Central Park West for a post-ceremony cocktail hour

• Additional use of the air-conditioned Community Room featuring a commercial kitchen, which could be used as a dressing room, green room, for a rehearsal dinner, or for your reception

• Since Holy Trinity is an active congregation, the officiant, musician, ceremony planning meetings, live streaming support, and all other staff all "built in" to the venue fees automatically

• Last but not least, earn bragging rights that you were married at the church stepped on by the Stay Puft Marshmallow in the original Ghostbusters (1986)

Do we have to be Lutheran to have our wedding here?
No. Holy Trinity celebrates marriage as God's gift regardless of denominational affiliation, whether Lutheran, Episcopal, or Roman Catholic, among many others. We also celebrate interfaith marriages at Holy Trinity, joining together persons of the Christian faith and another faith tradition.

Do you marry same-sex and queer couples?
Absolutely. Holy Trinity has been a Reconciling in Christ congregation since 1999 and continues today advocating for the full welcome, inclusion, and equity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual/aromantic (LGBTQIA+) people in all aspects of the life of the church, including marriage.

Who can officiate our wedding?
The Reverend Timothy Weisman, who serves as pastor at Holy Trinity, officiates all weddings at the church; that said, if you have a friend or loved one who is an ordained minister and would like her to participate in your ceremony, or if you desire a co-officiant from another faith tradition, please contact us.

Will we have premarital counseling?
Pastor Tim will meet with you four or five times before your wedding day; not only does this give Pastor Tim an opportunity to get to know you (and vice versa!) but you'll also work together to craft the ceremony. While Pastor Tim wants to hear your story and your hopes for the future, it is not professional counseling.

Can we have our reception at the church?
Yes. Holy Trinity boasts a large, air conditioned Community Room with a commercial kitchen that is available for receptions or rehearsal dinners. Please contact us for more details.
